Just found these gorgeous gluten-free oatcakes by Nairn’s.  They are ideal for gluten-intolerant or coeliac people.  “Normal” oats are often co-harvested with wheat so they can be contaminated with gluten. These ones are guaranteed uncontaminated and therefore safe as they are free from gliadin, the problem protein in wheat, rye, barley and spelt.  This has a special, new resonance for me as I just found out (through a simple saliva test) that I carry the HLADQ2 gene for coeliac disease so no more gluten.  Delighted to still be able to enjoy oatcakes though….I got these just now in Health Matters in Dublin 12.   For more information on coeliac disease, go to my website www.annacollins.ie
